Introduction

OpAgent is an AI-native Markdown editor for thinking, writing, and coding with AI.

It combines three things in one desktop workspace:

  • a file-based Markdown editor;
  • a conversation panel for working with AI agents;
  • a workspace sidebar for files, agents, skills, tools, and marketplace resources.

The goal is simple: keep your work and your AI collaboration in the same place. Instead of chatting in one app and copying results into another, you can write, ask, edit, and keep the final result as Markdown.

OpAgent is useful if you often work with documents, projects, notes, or code and want AI to stay close to your actual files.

Common use cases include:

  • writing and editing articles, plans, and research notes;
  • turning messy notes into structured documents;
  • keeping project conversations next to project files;
  • asking an agent to explain, rewrite, summarize, or improve content;
  • using specialized agents and skills for repeated workflows.

3 How OpAgent is different from a normal chat app

Section titled “3 How OpAgent is different from a normal chat app”

A normal chat app is good for quick questions, but the result often disappears into a long chat history. OpAgent is designed around files and workspaces.

In OpAgent:

  • your documents stay in a workspace;
  • conversations can be saved and edited as Markdown;
  • agents can be connected to a folder or project context;
  • useful output can become part of your long-term notes or project material.

Think of OpAgent as a desk with three areas:

  1. Left: workspace — files, folders, agents, skills, and tools.
  2. Center: editor — Markdown documents and saved conversations.
  3. Right: conversation — ask an agent to help with the current task.

You can start with a single Markdown file and grow from there.
